Quick answer

EIN Presswire is the best budget wire for mainstream news: $149 per release, with AP News and USA TODAY Network distribution. PR Underground is cheapest at $74.99 but bans crypto and gambling. Press Advantage costs $349 a month for 2 releases written for you. For crypto, iGaming or a named USA TODAY placement, use TS Newswire.

EIN Presswire is the best all-round budget wire in 2026: $149 for one release, with AP News and USA TODAY Network distribution on every package. PR Underground is cheapest to start ($74.99) but bans crypto and gambling outright. Press Advantage suits SEO agencies that want releases written for them on a monthly subscription.

All three are popular with small businesses, startups and agencies that need wire distribution without PR Newswire pricing. They differ more than their price tags suggest, especially on three questions buyers often check too late:

  • Do I get USA TODAY? Only EIN Presswire and TS Newswire list USA TODAY Network distribution on their standard packages.

  • Will they accept my industry? Crypto, iGaming, supplements and fintech are where most budget wires say no.

  • Do I pay per release or per month? Press Advantage is subscription-only; the other three sell single releases.

We run TS Newswire, so we have included it as a fourth column. Every competitor figure below comes from the provider's own pricing and guidelines pages, checked on October 14, 2026.

EIN Presswire: best value for mainstream news

EIN Presswire gives the most named reach per dollar of the three: every package, including the $149 Basic, lists AP News, Nexstar Media Group and the USA TODAY Network. Volume buyers pay $83.17 per release on Pro+ (5 releases plus 1 free, currently a limited offer) or $66.60 on Corporate (15 for $999).

Where it wins

  • Broad named distribution on the cheapest tier, plus Bloomberg Terminals, MuckRack and Google News

  • Releases can be used any time within 365 days of purchase

  • Detailed distribution reports and same-day distribution for verified accounts

Where it falls short

  • You write the release yourself; there is only a free AI generator

  • Basic caps releases at 700 words, one country target and one industry target

  • Online gambling, fantasy sports, supplements, weight-loss products, Forex platforms and cloud mining are excluded

  • USA TODAY Network distribution is based on relevance, so it is not a guaranteed placement on a specific site

Crypto is allowed, but financial and crypto releases need full transparency, including contact details and a postal address on the company website.

Best for: companies in mainstream industries that can write their own news and want national syndication at the lowest price.

PR Underground: cheapest entry, strictest rules

PR Underground has the lowest entry price in this group: $74.99 for one Basic release, falling to $37.50 each when you buy 30. Basic covers 300+ news and TV sites, Google News submission and Digital Journal. The US National tier ($419.99, or $350 at volume) adds Yahoo Finance, MarketWatch, StreetInsider and the PRNewswire/Cision network.

Where it wins

  • Lowest cost per release at volume

  • Clear refund terms: your card is not charged if a release is rejected

  • One business day to publish on both tiers, with a PDF coverage report

Where it falls short

  • The longest prohibited list of the four: crypto, NFTs, play-to-earn, gambling of any kind, supplements, med spas, cosmetic procedures, legal cases and investment opportunities are all refused

  • US National does not accept material news from publicly traded companies

  • USA TODAY is not listed in its distribution, and its guidelines warn that naming media groups such as Gannett may be blocked by some partners

  • Bulk credits expire after 6 months

Best for: local businesses, SaaS and consumer brands in clean categories that want the lowest possible price per release.

Press Advantage: done-for-you releases for SEO agencies

Press Advantage is the only one of the three that writes your releases for you, and it is built around SEO agencies on a monthly plan. Every plan includes 2 releases a month: Foundation at $349, Authority at $499 and Prestige at $799, which works out to $174.50 to $399.50 per release.

Where it wins

  • US-based writers and editors draft each release

  • 596+ placements per release on Foundation, 839+ on Authority

  • Month-to-month terms, a 30-day money-back guarantee and unlimited client media rooms

  • Prestige adds placements it describes as a major national newspaper, plus white-labeled reports

Where it falls short

  • No single-release option; you pay monthly whether you have news or not

  • Google and Bing News placement starts on Authority, not Foundation

  • Online gambling, health and beauty products, stock ticker symbols and loan services are forbidden; crypto and cannabis get limited distribution

  • Strict format rules: 400 to 800 words, no bullet points and no subheadings

  • USA TODAY is not named in its distribution

Best for: SEO agencies managing local clients that want a steady release cadence without writing in-house.

Where TS Newswire fits

TS Newswire is the option for categories the other three restrict, and for buyers who want named premium outlets on a one-time payment. The $149 Starter includes USA TODAY Network distribution, StreetInsider and Digital Journal. Business ($349) adds Yahoo Finance, AP News, Benzinga and Google News; Premium ($649) covers 1,240+ outlets with a 6-hour turnaround.

Where it wins

  • Industry packages for categories budget wires refuse: iGaming ($890) and crypto ($920), each with a compliance review before submission

  • Single premium placements, including a standalone USA TODAY placement with a publication report and a performance report from the publisher's analytics

  • White-label releases with no TS Newswire branding, useful for agencies

  • Bulk credits that never expire, and a full refund if a release is not published on the included outlets

Where it falls short

  • A newer brand than EIN Presswire or PR Underground, with a shorter track record

  • Not the cheapest at volume: bulk credits start at $279 per release, versus $66.60 on EIN Corporate or $37.50 on PR Underground Basic

  • Writing is an optional, AI-assisted add-on rather than a dedicated human writing team like Press Advantage's

  • The standalone USA TODAY placement is priced on request, not listed

Best for: crypto, iGaming and fintech brands, and agencies that need named premium outlets without a subscription.

USA TODAY press release distribution: who includes it

Of the four services, only EIN Presswire and TS Newswire list USA TODAY Network distribution on their standard packages. Neither PR Underground nor Press Advantage names USA TODAY on its pricing or distribution pages.

USA TODAY began carrying press releases through a distribution agreement with Gannett, its parent company, in June 2025. Releases appear on USA TODAY's press release section and are syndicated to the USA TODAY Network of 250+ local news sites.

Three things to know before you pay for it

  1. It is a press release, not editorial coverage. The page is labelled as a press release. Describe it as "our announcement was published on USA TODAY", not "featured in USA TODAY", and do not imply endorsement.

  2. Inclusion is not always guaranteed. EIN Presswire says its USA TODAY Network distribution is based on relevance. If the USA TODAY placement matters, choose a service that sells it as a named placement and reports the live URL.

  3. USA TODAY applies its own content filters, whichever wire you use. Crypto and NFTs, gambling and betting, cannabis and drugs, political advocacy, sexually explicit content and use of other brands' names are rejected. A crypto or iGaming release will not reach USA TODAY through any of these four services.

In our experience, USA TODAY press release pages stay live for about 150 to 180 days, and links are nofollow. Treat the placement as a credibility asset you can share and cite, not a permanent backlink.

FAQ

Is EIN Presswire worth it in 2026?

For mainstream news, yes. At $149 it includes AP News and USA TODAY Network distribution, which most budget wires do not. It is a weaker fit if you need writing help or work in gambling or supplements.

Is PR Underground legit?

Yes. It has operated since 2010 and publishes its pricing, guidelines and refund terms openly. Its main limit is a long list of banned categories, including crypto and gambling.

How much does Press Advantage cost?

Plans run $349, $499 or $799 a month, each with 2 done-for-you releases. That is $174.50 to $399.50 per release, with no single-release option.

Which budget wire includes USA TODAY?

EIN Presswire and TS Newswire. EIN distributes to the USA TODAY Network based on relevance; TS Newswire includes the network from its $149 Starter and sells a standalone USA TODAY placement.

Can I publish a crypto press release on USA TODAY?

No. USA TODAY's press release channel rejects cryptocurrency, token and NFT content regardless of which distributor submits it. Crypto brands should target crypto-friendly finance outlets instead.

Which press release service accepts iGaming?

EIN Presswire, PR Underground and Press Advantage all refuse online gambling releases. TS Newswire offers an iGaming package for licensed operators, with responsible gambling statements added.

Do these press releases help SEO?

They can build brand mentions, indexed pages and referral traffic. Most syndicated press release links are nofollow, so do not buy distribution for link equity alone.
